How To Fix Stupid

Is there any way to fix stupid?

Here in the southern US we have a saying, “There ain’t no way to fix stupid”.  By that we mean that we cannot stop people from doing the same stupid things over and over.

Now by stupid, we are not talking about someone doing something because they do not know any better.  We call them an ignoramus.

By stupid, we also do not mean when someone does something from a lack of experience and has not yet been shown a better way.  We say that someone like that is green (not seasoned or mature in the thing).

When we say someone is stupid, we mean that they are foolish.  They have been warned about the consequences of the foolish action and have been shown a wiser course of action, but they still do the foolish action.

However, there are those who are stupid and there are those who are terminally stupid.  The difference is the first one will learn from their mistakes, but the second one will keep on doing the same stupid things over and over again until it kills them.

This second group might agree that they have been making stupid choices that have been hurting them, but when they find themselves in the same situation again then they still keep doing the same stupid things that they did before.  So the saying about them is, “There ain’t no way to fix stupid”.

Perhaps, you know someone in this second group and this saying resonates with you.  However, there are a couple of ways to fix stupid, and the situation is not necessarily hopeless.

The first step to fixing stupid is the same as anything else.  We must begin with a solid definition of the problem and a solid understanding of the root of the problem.

Now, in the Book of Truth the word “stupid” does not appear in most translations,  Instead the word “fool” is used for some who is stupid and “foolish” is used to describe someone who is stupid or to describe their actions.

However, even this is sometimes a little confusing because there are three different Hebrew words that are sometimes translated as “fool” or “foolish”.  They actually describe three different -but related -things.

The first one is “Peti”.

It is someone who is unlearned or inexperienced.  It sometimes translated as “simple”.  It covers both the ignoramus and the green.

The Father of Truth (YHVH aka God aka THE LORD) protects these from their own ignorance and inexperience (Psalm 116:6).  He gives them a chance to be educated and gain experience so they will no longer be ignorant and inexperienced (Proverbs 9:1-6).

It is the Law of Truth (Torah aka The Law) that will make them wise and enlighten the eyes of their understanding (Psalm 19:7-8).  His Word removes the darkness of their ignorance and gives them understanding (Psalm 119:130).

It is the commandments in the Law of Truth that make someone wise and understanding (Deuteronomy 4:5-6).  It is knowing the commandments that makes them wise and doing them that gives them understanding (Psalm 119:97-100).

The Father of Truth has given wisdom in His Word that is the source of all understanding (Proverbs 2:6). So, they cease to lack wisdom and understanding when they answer the call of wisdom to gain understanding by doing only what He commands (Proverbs 9:4-6).

They will come to be wise and understanding by hearing what the Father of Truth says (Proverbs 1:2-5).  They learn the easy way by not resisting doing what He commands (Proverbs 8:32-35).

The second one is “kesil”.

It is someone who has to learn the hard way.  It is usually translated as “fool”.  This is someone who is stupid.

These stupid people will not listen to the Father of Truth for they hate anyone telling them what to do (Proverbs 1:7)).  They will not listen to anything that interferes with their pursuit of fun because they are too stupid to see the disaster it will bring (Proverbs 10:8).

These stupid people think it is fun and games when they cause mischief to other people (Proverbs 10:23).  Their heart is always in the party house (Ecclesiastes 7:4).

It does no good to warn these stupid people of the danger, for they despise wise words (Proverbs 23:9).  These stupid people will not listen to anyone who warns them of the danger but will listen to the songs of other stupid people (Ecclesiastes 7:5).

These stupid people will keep on doing the same stupid things in the same circumstances like a dog that returns to eat its own vomit (Proverbs 26:11).  They will laugh even as they are being destroyed like a thorns being burned under a pot (Ecclesiastes 7:6).

These stupid people do not want to be around wise people to become wiser, but will go with other stupid people on the road that leads to destruction (Proverbs 13:20).  They will not avoid the disaster like wise people do, but go head long into it because they are confident that it will not happen to them (Proverbs 14:16).

So, there seems to be no way to fix stupid, yet there are two ways to do so.  The first requires understanding and taking decisive action.

They have to be beaten like a rebellious child to drive them off the path that is leading them to Hell (Proverbs 23:13-14).  They must be  beaten with a rod to guide them to wise living just as a horse must guided by  a whip to keep it on the right path (Proverbs 26:3).

These stupid people have to be flogged to drive the stupid out of them (Proverbs 19:29).  If they do not suffer immediate painful consequences then they will just keep doing the same stupid things over and over until they are destroyed (Ecclesiastes 8:11).

If you love these stupid people, then you must give them immediate painful consequences like the Father of Truth gives His Children (Hebrews 12:6-8).  This will make them realize that the consequences of their behavior will come up on them and cause them to leave stupid behind (Hebrews 12:11).

The third one is “Lutz”.

It is someone who cannot even learn the hard way.  It is usually translated as “scorner”. This is someone who is terminally stupid.

Terminally stupid people will not listen when their parents tell them that they have done wrong (Proverbs 13:1). They  do not love those who try to help them, and they will not ask wiser people for advice (Proverbs 15:12).

Terminally stupid people love to scorn other people (Proverbs 1:22).  They will mock anyone who tells them that they are on the road to ruin and hate them for doing so (Proverbs 9:7-8).

Therefore, terminally stupid people must be beaten for their behavior so the unlearned and inexperienced will be warned not to follow their example (Proverbs 19:25).  When they are punished then the unlearned and inexperienced become wiser (Proverbs 21:11).

After that, terminally stupid people must be cast out to bring an end to their continual trouble making (Proverbs 22:10).  Nobody wants to be around these people (Proverbs 24:9).

The Father of Truth will scorn terminally stupid people just as they scorned others (Proverbs 3:34).  They have dealt out proud wrath while despising other people (Proverbs 21:24).

Terminally stupid people are stubbornly contrary troublemakers who will continue to cause discord until they are destroyed by sudden disaster (Proverbs 6:14-15).  This will come upon them because they refused to even learn the hard way (Proverbs 29:1).

There is only one way to fix terminally stupid.

Terminally stupid people must be handed over to the Father of Truth to be fixed by Him.  This is the second way to fix stupid.

Those made wise by the Law of Truth must not sit down among terminally stupid people who scorn the ways of the Father of Truth (Psalm 1:1-2).  The Children of Truth (those who disobey the Father of Truth because they do not love Him) must withdraw from those who will not consent to the words of the Man of Truth (Yah'shau aka Yeshua HaMashiach aka Jesus) since they are proud and know nothing (1 Timothy 6:3-5).

Instead, the Children of Truth must pray for terminally stupid people who have caused them trouble (Matthew 5:44).  The Father of Truth is slow to destroy terminally stupid people because He wants them to repent instead perishing (2 Peter 3:9).

Like the nation of Israel, the Father of Truth will cause terminally stupid people continual trouble until they repent with all their heart (Deuteronomy 30:1-2).  When they do this, then He will circumcise their hearts that they may live (Deuteronomy 30:6).

Like the nation of Israel, the Father of Truth will replace the heart of stone that is stubbornly contrary to His commandments in terminally stupid people with a heart of flesh that obeys His commandments (Ezekiel 11:19-20).  He will also put the Spirit of Truth (Ruach HaQodesh aka The Holy Spirit aka The Holy Ghost) inside of them so they be made wise by keeping His commandments (Ezekiel 36:26-27).

This wisdom will keep terminally stupid people from loving death and cause them to find life instead (Proverbs 8:35-36).  They will no longer have a mind that is at war with the Father of Truth and unable to keep the commandments of the Law of Truth (Romans 8:6-7).

These people will no longer be terminally stupid but will be new people who live wisely (2 Corinthians 5:17).  They will no longer be obstinate troublemakers because the Father of Truth has fixed terminally stupid (Colossians 3:9-10).

This is what He did with Paul the Jew (Shaul aka Saul aka The Apostle Paul).

Gamaliel advised against anyone trying to stop the Apostles of Truth from spreading the Gospel (Acts 5:34-39).  Gamaliel had taught Paul the Jew like a father (Acts 22:3).

Instead of doing what Gamaliel said, Paul the Jew did everything he could to stop the Apostles of Truth from spreading the Gospel (Acts 8:1-3).  He was a stubborn contrary troublemaker to those who followed the Man of Truth (Acts 26:9-11).

However, the Man of Truth intervened in the life of Paul the Jew and asked him why he could not even learn the hard way to stop doing things that were hurting him (Acts 26:12-14).  When Paul the Jew had a life changing, soul saving, revelation of the Man of Truth, he became a new man with a new mission (Acts 26:15-20).

Paul the Jew was told from the beginning that he would suffer greatly for spreading the Gospel (Acts 9:15-16).  Other people had to know that the Father of Truth will not be mocked, so Paul the Jew had to reap trouble for all the trouble he had made for others when they had spread the Gospel (Galatians 6:7).

Paul the Jew had previously fallen into religious pride that would have destroyed him (Proverbs 16:18).  So, a messenger of the Father of Lies (HaShatan aka Satan Aka The Devil) was sent to beat Paul the Jew to keep him from falling into pride over the revelations that he was given (2 Corinthians 12:7).

Paul the Jew had been terminally stupid, but the Father of Truth had mercy on him because he acted out of ignorance and a heart full of unbelief (1 Timothy 1:13).  Paul the Jew had been the worst possible case of terminally stupid, but the Father of Truth fixed him to show that He can fix every kind of stupid (1 Timothy 1:14-16).

So, are you ready to have the Father of Truth fix stupid?

Fixing stupid must begin with you (Matthew 7:3-4).  Then you will be able to do what is necessary to fix stupid in other people (Matthew 7:5).

You must agree to the terms of the Renewed Covenant (B'rit Chadashah aka The New Testament) that will cause the Law of Truth to be written in your heart, so stupid can be fixed (Jeremiah 31:33-34).  When it has been written in your heart by the Spirit of Truth, then the stupid in you that brought death will be fixed so you can have life (2 Corinthians 3:3-6).

This means that stupid can only be fixed by obeying the Man of Truth in everything and never can ever be fixed by just calling him “Lord” (Matthew 7:21-27).  So, make a commitment to obey him in everything because you believe that the Father of Truth raised him from the dead and the Father of Truth will fix the stupid in you (Romans 10:9-10).
