Eternal Security

Which verses promise unconditional eternal security?

I have encountered numerous people over the years who have taught a doctrine that they call eternal security.

In brief, the doctrine of eternal security can be summarized as this:  Salvation is an eternal possession of the believers, therefore no one can lose their salvation once they become a believer.  It is once saved, always saved.  It does not matter what they do after they are born again.  They have unconditional eternal security.

Those who teach this doctrine will often give twenty-two sets of verses that promise unconditional eternal security.

So, which of these verses promise unconditional eternal security?

Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: He preserveth the souls of his saints; He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked (Psalm 97:10).  It is only the souls of those who love the Father of Truth (YHVH aka God aka THE LORD) and hate evil that the Father of Truth preserves.  This verse says nothing about preserving the souls of those who return to doing what is wicked.  So, it has two conditions.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3).  This verse says nothing about people having eternal security after they are born again.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).  This verse has a condition of believing in the Man of Truth (Yeshua HaMashiach aka Jesus Christ).

And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day (John 6:39).  This verse only states that this is the will of the Father of Truth, and does not guarantee anything.  It is the will of the Father of Truth that no one ever sin, yet people sin.  "It" that will be raised up is clarified in the next verse as those who see the Man of Truth and believe in him (John 6:40).  This verse has two conditions, one of seeing the Man of Truth and another of believing in him.

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand (John 10:28).  This verse lacks context on its own to define who "them/they" are, who will gain eternal life, never perish, and never be taken out of his hand.  The previous verse shows that "them/they" are those, who hear his voice and follow him (John 10:27).  So this verse makes no promise of security for those, who stop listening to his voice and leave off following him.  This verse is conditional as well.

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand (John 10:29).  Again, when you put this verse in the context of the passage it appears in, them are those, who hear the voice of the Man of Truth and follow him.  It is only those, who meet these conditions, which cannot be plucked out of the hand of the Father of Truth.  It makes no promise of security for those, who stop listening to his voice and leave off following the Man of Truth.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).  This verse says nothing about eternal security, but only that we have peace with the Father of Truth.  Even that peace is conditional on the Man of Truth being our Lord, and us having faith in him.  Also, anytime you see a "therefore", you need to look at what proceeded it to see what it is there for.  The proceeding verses make it plain that that righteousness comes from believing on the Father of Truth (Romans 4:22-25).  So, there are three conditions.

Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified (Romans 8:30).  This verse lacks context on its own to define who "them" are, which were predestinated, called, justified, and glorified.  The proceeding verses make it plain that "them" are those, who love the Father of Truth and are called to carry out His purposes (Romans 8:28-29).  Again, there are two conditions.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?  He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.  Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us (Romans 8:31-34). Again, "us" and "His elect" are those who meet the same two conditions as the previous verse.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35-39). Again, "us/we" are those who meet the same two conditions as the previous verses.

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13).  Although commonly cited, this verse actually says nothing about eternal security.  The point of this verse is that all believers, regardless of being Jews or Gentiles, regardless of being bond or free, all belong to the body of the Man of Truth and have the Spirit of Truth (Ruach HaQodesh aka The Holy Spirit aka The Holy Ghost) working in their lives.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).   This verse begins with a therefore, so we need to see why it is there for, by looking at the proceeding verses.  These verses define that being "in Christ" means those, who are living for the Man of Truth, instead of living for themselves (2 Corinthians 5:15-16).  It has a condition of living for the Man of Truth.  So, it offers no eternal security for those, who return to living for themselves.

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory (Ephesians 1:13-14).  These verses have two related conditions, trusting and believing.  It is certain that this assurance is for those who continue to meet these conditions, for they were commended for continuing to trust in the Man of Truth and showing love to the Children of Truth (those who obey The Father of Truth because they love Him) in the very next verse (Ephesians 1:15).  This verse says nothing about not being able to lose the earnest of their inheritance, if they turn from doing these things.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9 ).  Grace is giving someone something that they do not deserve, so salvation is by graceIt is a gift of the Father of Truth that people cannot earn.  We can be certain that it is salvation that was given by grace, for a few verses earlier in this same passage say this with the exact same wording (Ephesians 2:5).  However, there is a condition to obtaining this gift, and that is obtaining it through faith.  This faith produces the good works, that the Father of Truth has planned for those, who are saved by grace to perform (Ephesians 2:10).  So, these acts are not earning salvation, but evidence of the faith needed to receive the gift of salvation.  It is like a man giving a free car to anyone, who will show up to get it.  The car is absolutely free, and cannot be earned, but those who want the car, still have to do something.  This verse says nothing about people keeping their salvation, if they turn from the faith needed to obtain it.

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30).  This verse is a warning to not grieve the Spirit of Truth, which means that people can grieve the Spirit of Truth.  They do this is by ceasing to do the things, which show that they have been saved (Ephesians 4:22-29).  This warning ends with a commandment to watch what they say, and to avoid unforgiveness (Ephesians 4:31-32).  So this verse definitely comes with conditions.  The Spirit of Truth is the seal that marks people to be redeemed when the Man of Truth returns.  There is nothing in this verse that says, this seal cannot be removed, but instead warns people to live in obedience to the Man of Truth.  The entire premise that this verse makes any promise of eternal security, is based on the Spirit of Truth not being able to be taken from someone, after they have been given the Spirit of Truth.  We will examine this idea in detail later.

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross (Colossians 2:14 ).  This verse does not stand alone, but is part of a passage.  In fact, us are those, who meet the conditions defined in the preceding verses. These conditions are continual repentance from sin, and faith in the Man of Truth (Colossians 2:11-13).  This verse makes no guarantee of any kind for people, who do not meet those conditions.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (Titus 3:5 ). The preceding verses make it plain that people were performing wicked works, until they came to the knowledge of the Father of Truth (Titus 3:3-4).  This lack of righteousness is why, we cannot be saved by works of righteousness which we have done.  The verses which follow say, that people become heirs of the hope of eternal life by believing in the Father of Truth, and maintaining good works (Titus 3:6-8).  So, according to His mercy He saved us, who meet these two conditions.  It offers no hope of eternal life to those, who stop believing in Him, or stop maintaining good works.

That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec (Hebrews 6:18-20).   These verses begin by referring to two immutable things.  One of these is the Father of Truth (Hebrews 6:13).  The other is His council (Hebrews 6:17).  There is nothing about an immutable guarantee of salvation, regardless of what people do after they are born again.  The we/us in this section is those, who do those the things that accompany salvation until the end, like diligently laboring to take care of the Children of Truth (Hebrews 6:9-11).  They are the ones, who have fled for refuge, by enduring through faith in the Father of Truth, until they obtain what is promised (Hebrews 6:12-15).  So, these verses also have conditions to obtain, what is promised.

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them (Hebrews 7:25 ).  As usual, we need to look at the context to understand this verse correctly.  The them in this verse is those, who draw near to the Father of Truth (Hebrews 7:19).  It is those that come to the Father of Truth by the Man of Truth, who are saved to the uttermost.  So there is a condition of drawing near to the Father of Truth, to be saved to the uttermost.

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5).  Who are ye/thee/your in this verse?  Ye/thee/your refers to those, who have the faith to live their lives in accordance with the Word of Truth (Hebrews 13:7).  There is no promise given for those, who do not live their lives in accordance with the Word of Truth.

Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time (1 Peter 1:5).  Who are kept refers to those, who are begotten again by the Father of Truth, and live in obedience to Him (1 Peter 1:2-3).  The salvation ready to be revealed in the last time is incorruptible and reserved in Heaven for those, who meet these conditions (1 Peter 1:4).   They will receive this salvation when the Man of Truth returns to the Earth, if they endure persecution through faith (1 Peter 1:6-9).  So the salvation in this verse, is only experienced in the future by those, who live in obedience to the Father of Truth, and who endure persecution through faith in the Man of Truth.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God (1 John 5:13).  These things have I written indicates, that we must look at what was written previously to understand this verse.  You that believe on the name of the Man of Truth are those, who love the Children of Truth, keep the commandments of the Father of Truth, and overcome the world through faith in the Man of Truth (1 John 5:1-5).  Eternal life comes from making the Man of Truth the center of their life (1 John 5:11-12).  Lastly, that ye may believe on the name of the Man of Truth indicates that those, who already believe on the name of the Man of Truth, could stop doing so.  So, this verse has three conditions, including to never stop believing on the name of the Man of Truth.

We have went over all twenty-two of the most popular sets of verses, used to prove that the Father of Truth gives an unconditional promise of eternal security.  Not one single verse out of this entire set makes a promise of unconditional eternal security, when it is not taken out of context.  A few of the verses make absolutely no mention of anything resembling eternal security.  The rest of them all have conditions that must be met.  So, there are no verses that promise unconditional eternal security.

The verses that mention anything resembling eternal security, all contain conditions that are part of the evidence of faith.  There is no promise of eternal security without the works of faith.

This doctrine of unconditional eternal security is another example of the partial deception at work.  It is part of the Doctrine of Lies.

Can people stop meeting these conditions?

Some people will believe the Good News for a little while, and then stop believing when they fall into temptation (Luke 8:13).  People can turn their hearts back to the place of sin, after the Father of Truth has saved them from it (Acts 7:36-39).  People can escape the pollution of this world through the Man of Truth, and then go back into that pollution, ending up worse than they were before they came into the House of Truth (2 Peter 2:20-21).

People can turn aside from following the Man of Truth, and go back to following the Father of Lies (HaShatan aka Satan Aka The Devil) (1 Timothy 5:15).  They can turn away from the very Children of Truth, who brought them the Good News (2 Timothy 1:13-15).  They can turn away from the sound doctrine found in the Word of Truth to follow after fables (2 Timothy 4:3-4).  They can turn from the truth, by giving heed to Jewish fables and the commandments of people (Titus 1:14).

People can swerve from faith, to turn aside to worthless words spoken by people, who do not understand the Law of Truth (1 Timothy 1:5-7).  People can shipwreck their faith by not maintaining a good conscience (1 Timothy 1:19).  People in the House of Truth can turn so far away from the Man of Truth, that it becomes impossible to bring them back to repentance (Hebrews 6:4-6).

It is not walking in truth to say, that people cannot turn away from the truth.

What if people stop meeting these conditions?

People cannot be saved by a dead faith that does not produce the evidence of faith (James 2:14-17).  They cannot continue in faith without continuing to produce the evidence of faith (James 2:18-20).  There is no justification by faith without producing the evidence of faith (James 2:21-24).  Their faith will become dead, if they stop producing the evidence of faith (James 2:25-26).

The Spirit of Truth can come upon people to carry out the will of the Father of Truth (1 Samuel 11:6-7).  The Spirit of Truth can then depart from them, if they turn from obeying the Father of Truth (1 Samuel 16:14).  The Spirit of Truth can be taken from people, who return to committing sin (Psalm 51:9-11).

People believe the Good News in vain, if they do not continue to remember the Good News (1 Corinthians 15:1-2).  The Children of Truth, who cast away their confidence, and not patiently endure, will not receive what the Father of Truth has promised them (Hebrews 10:35-36).

People receive the grace of the Father of Truth in vain, if they do not start putting their faith into action (2 Corinthians 6:1-2).  They must carryout His command to separate themselves from those, who do not worship Him, if they want to be His children (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).

The efforts to bring other people into the House of Truth will be in vain, if those people return to observing the same holidays from idolatry that they observed, before they knew the Father of Truth (Galatians 4:8-11).  These efforts will be in vain, if they give into the temptation of Father of Lies to leave the House of Truth (1 Thessalonians 3:5-6).

People will suffer in vain, if they start trying to get through their own efforts to keep the Law of Truth, what can only come from the Spirit of Truth through faith (Galatians 3:1-4).  People will fall from the grace of the Father of Truth, if they start seeking to be justified by the Law of Truth (Galatians 5:4).

People will be robbed of what they have received, if human philosophies, deceit, and traditions, lead them towards the world, and away from the Man of Truth (Colossians 2:8).  They will be tricked out of their reward, if they let people lead them into bowing down in worship to angels (Colossians 2:18).

The Man of Truth will deny knowing before the Father of Truth, anyone who stops confessing that they know him before people (Matthew 10:32-33).  They must not be willing to deny him to avoid suffering, if they want to reign with him (2 Timothy 2:12).

The Father of Truth will not forgive anyone, who stops forgiving everyone that has done them wrong (Matthew 6:14-15).  He will hand them over to be tormented forever, if they do not forgive everyone from their heart (Matthew 18:34-35).

People who willfully return to sinning, after receiving the truth, will eventually reach the point that there is no hope of escaping eternal punishment (Hebrews 10:26-27).  People who trod down the Man of Truth, treat the blood that he shed on the cross as unholy, and despise the Spirit of Truth, will come back under the wrath of the Father of Truth (Hebrews 10:28-31).

Those who draw back from continuing to believe the Word of Truth will be destroyed, instead of being saved (Hebrews 10:38-39).  People will not escape the judgment of the Father of Truth, if they turn aside from following the Man of Truth (Hebrews 12:24-25).  They will be destroyed for losing their faith in the Father of Truth, after they have been saved (Jude 1:5).

So the Children of Truth will not be saved, unless they stay in the House of Truth.  Letting people believe that they can be saved, while living in rebellion to the Father of Truth, is hating them with the worst kind of hatred.

How can the Children of Truth have eternal security?

The Children of Truth have eternal security, if they persevere in putting the Word of Truth into action, until they keep producing the evidence of faith for the rest of their lives (Luke 8:11-15).  They will have eternal security, if they never surrender and they never give up (Galatians 6:9).

The Children of Truth can only avoid falling into sin, by constantly being on guard against falling into sin (1 Corinthians 10:11-13).  They have to constantly examine themselves to be sure, that they are still following the Man of Truth (2 Corinthians 13:5).  They have to work out their salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12).

The Children of Truth must not deceive themselves into believing, that they can defile themselves with sin, and not be destroyed by the Father of Truth (1 Corinthians 3:16-18).  They must not deceive themselves into believing, that they can be saved by hearing the Word of Truth, without doing what it says (James 1:21-25).  They must not deceive themselves into believing, that their religion will save them, if they do not show real love to other people, AND keep themselves separated from the world (James 1:26-27).

The Children of Truth must avoid deceivers, who lead people into doing things that are contrary to the Word of Truth (Romans 16:17-18).  They must not let deceivers convince them, that they can continue to do what the Father of Truth says is evil, and still be saved (Ephesians 5:5-7).  They must not let anyone deceive them into believing, that they can be righteous, without doing what the Law of Truth says is right (1 John 3:4-7).

The Children of Truth must not let themselves be deceived into believing, that they can continue in sin, and still be saved (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).  They must not let themselves be deceived into believing, that they can keep company with evil people and not be dragged into sin (1 Corinthians 15:33).  They must not let themselves be deceived into believing, that they can keep doing what the Father of Truth says is evil, and still be saved (Galatians 6:7-8).

It is how they end that determines their destination.  Eternal security is the result of living for the King all of their days.

What if one of the Children of Truth does sin?

The Man of Truth understands what it is like to be tempted, even though he never sinned, so they can come to him to mercy in full assurance (Hebrews 4:14-16).  He is their advocate to bring them back into right standing with the Father of Truth (1 John 2:1-2).  He will give them time to repent (Revelation 2:20-21).

If they do not repent, then they will be allowed to suffer the consequences of their sin (Revelation 2:22-23).  They will suffer for their disobedience because the Man of Truth loves them (Revelation 3:19).

If they do not correct themselves, then they will suffer correction from the Father of Truth, so that they can be saved (1 Corinthians 11:31-32).  He will give them a whipping to bring correction, because they are His children (Hebrews 12:5-8).  He will make Hell real to them, so that they do not go to Hell for real (Hebrews 12:9-11).

This correction might even include handing them over to the Father of Lies to suffer physically, so that they might repent of their sin and be saved (1 Corinthians 5:5).  They might be handed over to the Father of Lies to suffer, so that they learn to not sin (1 Timothy 1:20).

The Man of Truth will let the Children of Truth go through this cycle of committing sin, suffering for sin, repenting of sin, as many times as it takes for them to decide, that they have suffered enough, and are going to sin no more (Matthew 18:21-22).  He will rebuke them each time they sin, and forgive them each time AFTER they repent (Luke 17:3-4).

So the Children of Truth will experience the chastening of the Lord, which could include terrible diseases like cancer, if they go into sin and do not repent quickly.  The Father of Truth knows, that it is time for some tough love to bring them to repentance.  It is better that they suffer for a while on Earth, than to suffer forever in the Chamber of Horrors.

When does eternal security begin?

No one can have eternal security, without being born again of the Spirit of Truth (John 3:3-7).  They must be begotten again by the Father of Truth, before they can have eternal security (1 Peter 1:3).  They must be born again from the seed of the Word of Truth, before they can have eternal security (1 Peter 1:23).

So, eternal security begins with coming into the House of Truth.  It comes from taking the deal offered by the Father of Truth, and making a lifelong commitment of total surrender to the Man of Truth.  Eternal security becomes possible once people complete the One Step Program.  This is the simplicity of the Gospel.

Eternal security begins with making commitment to walk in all of the ways of the Man of Truth for all of your days, because you believe that His Father raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9).

Come into the House of Truth!
